Wonder Woman Rumble in the Rainforest Review

This is the first Wonder Woman book that I’ve read from the DC novel series and unfortunately, I can’t say that it had a great start. The book has several villains and the threat is very real as our hero(s?) head out to fight one of the toughest mechs alive! How could this book not epicly succeed!?

The plot involves Wonder Woman as she sees a suspicious character and quickly realizes that the wildlife is in danger. The book goes into more detail so that this whole thing makes sense, but all that you need to know is that she’s after the villain. He’s a rich person who is basically protected by society since nobody can prove that he’s guilty. Well, Wonder Woman’s going to find some evidence and take him to prison! Things take an unexpected twist when she sees Gorilla Grodd and Poison Ivy duking it out. Can she defeat both of them or win them over to her side to fight the rich guy and his powerful mech?

The plot technically sounds exciting, but I don’t care for Gorilla Grodd and Poison Ivy. They’re hardly my favorite villains and their abilities are nothing special either. Wonder Woman should realistically be able to beat them with one punch and then take out the mecha with one punch as well. Unfortunately, that is not exactly how the fight went down.

It’s hard to explain why the book wasn’t so fun. It lacked the enjoyment that the other DC novels bring to the table and there were no real fight scenes. The Giant Mecha shouldn’t have been able to give her a decent fight and he’s just soooo slow. The ending was also extremely cheesy. I don’t think that Wonder Woman was written very well. None of the characters were written very well, but Wonder Woman stood out. It’s hard to explain why she was written badly, but she just didn’t feel like Wonder Woman to me. It was almost like she was in her Diana Prince personality for the entire story.

Overall, this is definitely not the DC novel that I would recommend for you. It may have had heart and emotion, but it wasn’t well done. I’m sure that the next one will improve this as the villains were the main problem. That being said, the writing also needs to improve for the next novel. If you want to see some cool superhero action, I recommend Superman Brainiac Attacks.

Overall 5/10
