Vegeta has big bang attack and can totally destroy Buu. Buu might get a hit or two in but let’s face it, Buu is not strong enough to take on someone as strong as the legendary Vegeta. Vegeta wins.
Using cannon sources, Vegeta would not be able to defeat buu. You need a full power super saiyan 3 to beat buu. Vegeta has never gone to 3 by the end of dbz. Buu even beat mystic gohan, who is actually stronger than super saiyan 3. Gohan is the strongest character by the end of dbz, and buu beat him.
I’d still say that it’s debatable. Canon wise- DBZ Battle of Gods is now the latest product and it’s reasonable to assume that the heroes have gotten decently stronger. Vegeta’s SSJ1 actually did more damage to Bills than Goku’s SSJ3, which shows how strong Vegeta is now. He may not have SSJ3, but it would be a very close fight
