Ash is a pretty powerful trainer and actually tackled AJ into the water! Now that’s pure speed and power right there! No tricks there folks. AJ’s tough, but if Ash has some time he will take down AJ pretty easily. With all of his experience Ash is leagues ahead of AJ. AJ just doesn’t have the skills to beat Ash. Ash wins.

Well technically we can’t judge who’d be better now, after all AJ seemed like a stronger trainer back then and for all we know he could have as many Pokémon as Ash by now, but since we haven’t seen them I guess they don’t count in this blog
Yeah, but even back then I think Ash should have won. I forgot how many pokemon he had at the time, but I think Pikachu could have soloed. His incredible speed and power were leagues ahead of AJ’s. The episode also annoyed me a bit since I think Ash should have won the hand to hand round. There’s always the slim shot that AJ will appear again in the future I suppose
