Pohatu vs Thing

Pohatu is pretty fast and has a lot of power over the ground. He can go through objects and has his Sky Blaster. Of course Thing has gotten a lot of power ups as well like his Mutated Form, Fear Itself form, and Human Torch form. In the end I think Thing has this match mainly thanks to his Fear Itself and Fire abilities. Thing wins.

  1. Thing does have that hammer from Fear Itself, but I have one question to ask first: Is his body actually made of rock? If not, Thing could win this fight. If it is, though, then he’s no match for Pohatu. As a Toa of Stone, Pohatu can control all forms of rock completely, and Thing would be unable to stop Pohatu as he would have control over his body – he could have the Thing hit himself with the hammer or simply split his stone body apart.

Also, did you get my message on Fanfiction.net?

    • Well, that’s a yes and no. He’s usually made of stone like his normal form and Fear Itself form. His Human Torch form, Invisible Woman, Mr Fantastic, (maybe Mutated) aren’t. Plus the rock powers could maybe paralyze him temporarily or something, but it may not be able to totally stop him. Like how Gaara can’t really affect Sandman or Pyro can’t stop Torchman’s flames. Because it’s like those reality warping powers in that it cuts away the fight. Of course I don’t completely mess with their abilities. Pyro can still mess with his flames and Gaara can play tug of war with Sandman over extra sand.

I didn’t get it so I’ll head on over to the site πŸ™‚

      • Well I guess that would lead to a sort of tug-of-war between Pohatu’s Stone powers and Thing’s control over his own body. In the end I would go with Pohatu on this one, as even if his Stone Control only slowed Thing down, I don’t thing the Thing could fight back against Pohatu’s speed. Especially as Akamai, because with Onua’s strength he’d be almost the same strength physically as Thing (stronger if the hammer doesn’t grant him any extra strength) and Tahu’s shielding should block any of Thing’s attacks if he’s sufficiently slowed by Pohatu’s power over Stone.

      • Don’t forget about his mutated form

That one also gives him added strength. Plus I believe his Fear Itself form is already stronger than usual not counting the hammer. Not that I’m 100% sure on that though.

For the stone controlling doesn’t he have to focus on it? Like how Jean has to use part of her mind to levitate someone? Because then both fighters should be slowed down a bit. Things’s Human Torch form also helps a bit thanks to its speed and power. Definitely a close match for sure.

      • Not so much. Kopaka has been shown to have an avalanche coming towards him from behind the instant he turned to face it as if he had stopped time. All the Toa have the same level of power over their element, so it shouldn’t take too much focus. It certainly wouldn’t slow him anywhere near as much as it would slow Thing, and Thing’s going to need all the speed he can get as Pohatu’s always going to be faster than him.

      • Yeah, Pohatu’s definitely got the speed advantage, but with Thing’s human torch form it shouldn’t really be much of one. Plus he probably still has the power advantage thanks to those power ups. Of course both fighters may get power ups in the future so things could switch either way

      • Pohatu probably won’t, the Bionicle storyline’s pretty much over. Although there are two unfinished stories, and one of them is focused in Pohatu and Kopaka, so who knows? Perhaps he has an edge in physical power, but Pohatu should still be a lot faster if he’s putting his Stone power into slowing Thing down and Tahu’s Fire power into diminishing Thing’s Human Torch powers. Then he’s got his Midak Skyblaster as well so he doesn’t even need to get close to Thing. It’s debatable all right, but I think Pohatu’s got the advantage here. There are probably a lot of foes Thing could beat that Pohatu couldn’t, but Pohatu’s powers are near-perfect for fighting Thing

      • Ah well. Still, if he does get a power up that would be fun. Yeah, Pohatu’s definitely a good match for the Thing. Of course there’s nothing like first person experience so when I see the film this could also change fast. If not for composite Thing would probably be out already

      • Pohatu doesn’t exactly do much in any of the films. He appears in Mask of Light, but he’s easily the most minor Toa in it (except Onua. Pohatu has more of an appearance, but Onua gets more action scenes). The comics, books and web stories are where he gets to show most of his powers.

      • Ah well. Hopefully my library system orders some. Would you believe that they actually don’t have any Bionicle related items!? It’s pretty dissapointing. Still, I hope to see the movie and maybe read some comics in the future
