    • I’m skipping Deadpool, but I just saw Batman V Superman last night so I’m working on the review so I can hopefully have it up today. Definitely an excellent film and I highly recommend it!

      • Awesome! I haven’t seen BVS but I’ve seen a bunch of YouTube reviews (even spoilers) and they’re very mixed.

Btw did you ever review Man of Steel? I know you liked it but I’m just curious.

      • Definitely!

        Man of Steel Review

Yeah, the reviews have definitely been really negative for critics and fans are also pretty divisive. Although, I had a feeling that I would love it once that happened. Bad reviews typically equals great fight scenes so I prepared myself and they are excellent. Not quite as good as Man of Steel, but still really solid.

      • Sorry that I’m commenting here over your review but I’m on my phone and I’m javing slight technical difficulties.

Anyways, just going to sum of my thoughts on the film but it’s been a while and I really should rewatch it.

        Pros:
-One of the best action scenes in a comic book movie
-I liked the tone they were going for. Not a huge fan of camp (Like the Christopher Reeve movies) so I have been waiting for a live action Superman movie similar to something like Superman Earth One

        Cons:
-Several moments really buged me: the truck destruction, Pa Kent’s death (he could die but the way they did it was kinda dumb), and (the elephant in the room) Superman killing Zod (although I’m assuming they’ve adressed that in BVS so if it has consequences I might be a tad more okay with it
-Pa Kent seemed very out of character
-Zod was a bit over the top for the tone they were going for
-Superman didn’t feel like Superman for me
-I kinda wish they spent more time with Clark Kenr at the Daily Planet

Again, I probably should see the film again so it’s fresh in my mind but after thinking over it I’d probably like it better if I saw it again and with BVS as a sequel. But it definitly had it’s problems

      • Well, I agree with the pros and I actually agree with all of the cons except for Zod being over the top. Unfortunately, be warned that most of the same negatives apply to Batman V Superman. Were you hoping that Superman wouldn’t kill someone again or cross the moral line in other ways? Well…..one of the themes is about how this planet corrupts everyone..even Superman, which is pretty bad. Superman’s even more out of character here than in Man of Steel for some reason. Pa Kent isn’t around anymore so he’s not out of character, but Ma Kent takes over that role with the bad advice. Lex Luthor is even more over the top than Zod ever was. Clark Kent mostly gets the shaft in this one. Batman’s also extreme since it’s Miller. All of this may make it sound like I don’t think the film was awesome, but the positives just outweighed the negatives that much for me. It can definitely use some improvement, but it’s a film I could easily rewatch right now already. The action is well worth it!

      • The thing is I feel like Superman is kinda like a living symbol of hope and is what the ideal superhero should be like. So he really shouldn’t be corrupted by the world. He could struggle with corruption, but he really should be able to overcome it and be able to do what’s right.

Based on reviews, both spoilers and nonspoiler (I’m fine with spoilers for this movie), I’m probably going to like Batman and Wonder Woman but this universe Superman is going to be iffy. I guess me and Zach Snyder just have two different visions of Superman. Although ultimately I’ll have to see the BVS and form my own opinions from there.

      • I absolutely agree and while I still like film Superman to an extent, he’s nowhere near as good as he should be. I think it partially comes down to the fact that both of his parents were more cynical and jaded than they were in the comics so he grew up with bad advice and even though he tries to get past it, he basically never does. He’s still more moral than Batman in this film though since Batman’s constantly murdering people if that’s any consolation. Batman fully embraces his vigilante title here and acts a little more like the Punisher.

      • Well, it’s based on the Miller Batman so he’s very extreme. The no guns thing doesn’t really exist for him at all. If it helps, he’ll only kill someone if the guy tries to kill him first. Otherwise, he’ll just go for breaking bones and crippling people. Prepare for his premeditated murders though since those are debatably worse than the spur of the moment ones as he is actually thinking about doing them before doing so. I was disappointed with that myself. He’s likable as a villain here or an extreme anti hero (Although I still don’t really believe in those) but not really as a Batman
