Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Arc

r003
The sequel’s off to a good start. Granted, it’s only the first chapter, but already it is much more interesting than the Tsubasa sequel and the art is a big improvement. I wasn’t a big fan of the original Cardcaptor Sakura so this could end up being the sequel that elevates the franchise if it plays its card right. I’ll have a review for the series when it finishes.

Overall 6/10

  1. I was hoping for something a little more in the first chapter. It really felt like a shounen chapter ending than a shoujo one. With only one chapter a month, this series could go on for a long time.

    1. True, I definitely do think this could end up going on for quite a long while. If the chapter had been longer that probably would have helped quite a lot. The shounen ending was epic though. I’m hoping for a lot of action in the upcoming chapters although I suppose the series shouldn’t overdo it. Imagining Cardcaptor Sakura as a Tsubasa esque adventure definitely has a lot of potential.

      1. I like the idea of including more action and adventure, but I’m a little worried since so many xxxHolic/Tsubasa chapters are just a bunch of hinted ramblings. It’s fine for a weekly/bi-weekly series, but not for a monthly.

      2. That is true, Clamp does love their rambling and ultimately it did destroy the Tsubasa sequel series which I thought was rather poor by the end. Hopefully this one is able to keep up a good balance.

      3. i think they decided the first chapter should show the characters again and set the plot near the end which is good for me for a first chapter

      4. I did enjoy this first chapter so I’m hoping that the series can keep it up. I am hoping for a big action scene to give Sakura more combat feats. She didn’t really get to have many big moments in the first series.
