Static Shock vs Batman Beyond

17
Static Shock may have some decent thunder abilities, but I don’t think that they will be enough this time. Batman Beyond may not have gotten any big power ups over the years, but his suit is pretty tough. It gives him a decent amount of strength and speed, not to mention that he’s pretty good in a close combat fight. Batman Beyond wins.

Thumbelina (DC) vs Orga

orga6mp
mega
Thumbelina (DC) is a pretty tough person when she needs to be, but in the end she won’t be able to take down Orga. Orga is a kaiju of immense power and one good shot should be enough to take Thumbelina (DC) down. Thumbelina (DC) may have lost, but she may be back. Orga wins.

Static Shock vs Batman

59
Static Shock is a pretty tough guy and he can shoot some pretty good bursts of electricity. Batman has been hit by lightning in the past and it’s never been enough to stop him. Static Shock may be a powerful opponent, but even he has his limits. Batman just needs his good ole GL Power Ring to take him down. Batman wins.

Inu No Taisho vs Virgo Shaka

Inutaisho-2-
Shaka_056-83
Inu No Taisho is a pretty powerful being. His sword skills are immense and he has a pretty solid rep. Unfortunately, having a rep isn’t quite as good as having a lot of action scenes. This would still be a pretty good battle, but Virgo’s telekinesis mixed with his energy blasts, should prove to be the deciding edge. Virgo Shaka wins.

Kenshin vs Chunk

Chunk_002
I didn’t want to do this to the Chunk, but it was time to give him another loss. Kenshin is one of the better Shonen Jump main characters out there. After reading the next volume of the series, I knew that it was time to give him some wins. Just in time for the next records right? Kenshin wins.

Villager vs Link

Link is gonna have to wake up!
The legendary Villager has appeared! Before Super Smash Bros, he was a well known character, but after the huge announcement..his popularity skyrocketed! Fans are expecting big things from him in the next game and can you blame them!? The Villager may be the scariest video game character of all time, but it won’t be enough to win this round. Link has proven to be too tough. Link wins.

Train vs Vash The Stampede

Train is a pretty tough guy and he is a true gunman. Vash The Stampede is a pretty infamous guy. He is known as the Humanoid Typhoon after all. He is pretty similar to Train in several ways. Unfortunately, they don’t include his personality. Train is a much cooler character and his speed will give him an edge. Not to mention his superior gun. Train wins.

True Grit Review

True Grit Movie Poster

True Grit is a call back to the old wild west days. If that didn’t start some alarms ringing in your head, then you may want to rethink that. I’ve never been a wild west person, but maybe this film could get past that. Maybe it could show me what a true wild west film should be like! Let’s see…..

The film starts out with a verse of scripture (Which is a solid way to start the film!) and then we get some narration. It appears that Tom Chaney defeated Mattie’s father and now she plans to avenge him. She mentions that everyone gets what’s coming to them at some point or other, but she’s going to take him down personally. First she needs to hire a gunman and get some money. In one of the better (but sadder) parts of the film, she negotiates with Colonel Stonehill. I liked his courage and dedication to the finer arts of negotiating, but Mattie is the protagonist, so things may not go his way. I’d say that this is where the film started going downhill. Slowly at first, but then it took a very steep nosedive towards the end.

Mattie hired a Marshall named Cogburn. They set out alongside LeBoueuf. (Who can get violent, but towards the end you’re supposed to sympathize with him because he’s a “hero”) They set off on a long trek to take down Chaney, but can they possibly catch him? Only time will tell I’m afraid.

Mattie isn’t a very good protagonist. I never liked a film to have a kid (Or in this case, very early teen) as the main character. I just can’t take the character seriously and it’s not as much fun. She has her “epic” scene at the end, but while it may have been temporarily satisfying, she should have listened to her own words. “Everyone pays for their sins” She’s all right with a gun, but she does freeze up when the going gets tough.

LeBoueuf is a pretty bad character. His opening scene is just awful and his next scene just keeps him on a spiralling track into oblivion. No matter what scenes he would get after that, it would be too late. He also tends to get taken out of a fight when things get tough.

How about Cogburn? Well, he tends to get drunk a lot and while he was a decent main character for a while, his poor treatment of his horse instantly put him on my bad list. That was just unacceptable and these characters could definitely learn a thing or two about true heroes.

Aside from Stonehill, I can’t say that I liked any characters in this film. Add to that the plethora of animal violence scattered across the film and some pretty cringe worthy scenes, this is not a film that I recommend at all. The Christian messages through the film are nice, but since the main character ignores all of them, you start to think about what the moral is. If you are squeamish about violence, you should probably avoid this film and if you like horses, then you should Definitely avoid this film. Next time you want to see something about the Wild West, check out the two part time travel episode in Justice League Unlimited. That’s the Wild West done right.

Jack Reacher Review

jack-reacher-poster-international

Jack Reacher is another film in a new trend of mysterious agent films. You know the type, the main character used to be the best of the best, until he retired or disappeared. Now he’s back and ready to roll! (Bourne, MI4. If James Bond were actually “The best of the best” you could add him to the list as well) Jack Reacher is a pretty good film and while it is weaker than the previous two films mentioned, it can hold its own.

The plot is that this guy shoots some people (And pays the parking meter!) before getting caught. At least the police were pretty quick on the draw this time, but they were too late. The convict asks for Jack Reacher to come, but the Police can’t contact him. Helen is the convict’s defense lawyer and she’s determined to help him. One day Jack shows up and tries to show why he’s the best. Helen decides to team up with him and together they can prove the convi-(I might as well say who the suspected convict is) James Barr’s innocence or vice versa. Unfortunately, some villains want to stop them, and they have the muscle to make it happen!

From there, there is a lot of shooting and fight scenes as Jack solves the case. He’s pretty smart and also physically powerful. In the film he’s capable of taking on several opponents at once and according to his trash talking, he always wins. Jack’s a pretty good character for the most part. When he’s in agent mode, he gets the job done. That’s the important thing. He’s also a pretty skilled marksman and did I mention that he served in the Government?

Helen is the other protagonist. She’s an all right character, but she’s mostly just there to be there. She doesn’t really help all that much and she’s definitely not much of a fighter. Towards the end, she doesn’t do so well, but at least she kept her dignity.

James Barr and Sandy aren’t very good characters either. Barr let his primal urges to shoot things get the better of him and Sandy doesn’t make the right move on several occasions. Cash is a pretty good character and it was nice to have at least one other fighter for the heroes. He’s all right with a gun and he did some damage. Zec is one of the big villains, but he’s very generic and not interesting. Let’s just say that he’s not much of a fighter. We also have the cop, but…..he’s not very good either.

Jack Reacher is a good film and if you like the subgenre of agents who must save the day, I’m sure that you will enjoy it. The final scene for Reacher can make you take a step back, but remember, Reacher’s no hero. He says so himself after all. You may be able to guess some of the plot twists early on, but it’s a good, popcorn fun movie to watch. Maybe it’ll get a sequel at some point. Either way, I recommend this film.

Tournament Smashers Episode 54 Ichigo vs One Above All

The 54th battle is here, with the return of the One Above All.

“Wake up,” Professor E Gadd said as he poked The One Above All with a thunder stick. “Foolishness!” The One Above All said as he opened his eyes and stood up. “I am everywhere and yet nowhere….I am awake and yet asleep,” he clarified as he looked around. He was trapped in a small hut. “What am I doing here,” he wondered aloud. “After your humiliating and crushing defeat at the hands of Son Goku, I took your remains and brought them here,” E Gadd stated as he looked at the door.

“Why have you brought me here!?” The One Above All as he clenched his fist. “You are bait, for the one they call…The Substitute Soul Reaper!” Professor E Gadd laughed as he prepared himself. “Fool, I will not be used in your petty games of revenge,” The One Above All said as he started spreading into an infinite form of energy. “You don’t have a choice anymore,” Professor E Gadd said as he pressed a button and a trap door opened. “I’ll be hiding down here while you are fighting,” he said as he fell inside.

Ichigo Kurosaki was a Substitute Soul Reaper. He liked to defeat a couple dozen hollows a day to stay in shape, but it had been rather boring. He had heard about the legendary Tournament Smashers competition, but nobody had challenged him. He could go pick a fight with someone, but it wasn’t worth his time. Ichigo would just find some other way to pass the time. Suddenly he felt a massive spike of power. “It’s at Luigi’s Mansion!” Ichigo yelled as his clothes changed into Soul Reaper attire. This happened when things were about to get real!

Ichigo zoomed off at supersonic speeds. He could break the light barrier, but there was always the risk that he would decimate a country or two while doing it. Ichigo saw a being made of light floating over the house. “Getsuga Tenshou!” Ichigo yelled as he fired a large shockwave. The blast went right through the One Above All and scattered some of his energies.

The One Above All turned to Ichigo. “So insignificant!” he thought as he raised his hand. Buu appeared and charged at Ichigo. “What!? Ichigo yelled as he blocked Buu’s punch, but the force sent him into the ground. “I don’t know what you’re doing here, but I’ll stop you!” Ichigo yelled as he dashed towards Buu. Buu fired a ki blast, but Ichigo sidestepped and hit Buu with a direct Getsuga Tenshou. Buu hit the ground, but turned into Sensui and fired another blast.

Ichigo hit the ground. From behind Superman grabbed him. “Fight’s over son,” he said as he reached for Ichigo’s sword. “I don’t think so, BANKAI!” Ichigo yelled as he transformed. “What power!” The One Above All exclaimed as he flew towards Ichigo. “Getsuga Tenshou!” Ichigo yelled as he fired a blast of dark energy. The One Above All reached out and blocked the blast, but his arm evaporated. “Fool, you can’t comprehend my power,” The One Above All said as he reformed and grew larger.

His body turned into thousands of heroes as they ran at Ichigo. “I don’t need to comprehend your power, to defeat you!” Ichigo yelled as he charged at The One Above All. He slashed past Naruto and kicked Captain America into Donald Duck. His sheer power knocked the others away as he slashed The One Above All.

“This can’t be, my power is absolute!” he yelled as he backed up a bit. “Reality Warping won’t get you anywhere,” Ichigo said as his hollow mask materialized. “This is the end,” Ichigo said as his sword glowed with power. He charged at The One Above All for the last time. The One Above All’s hand turned into a large cannon and he fired an immensely powerful blast. “No you don’t!” Ichigo yelled as his sword blocked the blast, but halted his progress. “I won’t be stopped here!” Ichigo yelled as he broke through and slashed The One Above All.

The One Above All hit the ground. “This can’t be,” he said as his energies scattered across the cosmos. “Let this be a warning,” Ichigo said as he turned back to human form. Omnipresent and Omnipotent beings will never amount to a well placed Getsuga Tenshou,” he said as he turned away and walked back to school. As long as nobody had reality warped his favorite chair, the day would be epic. Then he noticed that smoke was coming from his school. “Not again!” he yelled as he quickened his pace.
