Little Mac vs Ryu

unnamed (3)
Little Mac was easily the most enjoyable fighter to play as in the 3DS version. I used him all the time and he was epicly overpowered. Unfortunately, he got hit with the nerf hammer very hard and I slowly drifted to Sheik. I still play him a lot, but I probably play Ryu just as much nowadays and I can see why people say that Ryu is the most inspirational fighter in the game. He certainly has great battle music. I guess what I’m trying to say here is that Ryu easily wins the match. Both of these fighters are similar, but Ryu has the massive edge in raw power and long range options. Little Mac just couldn’t survive this battle. Ryu wins.

Ryu vs Pit

unnamed
Pit is one of Nintendo’s stronger protagonists so he can actually give Ryu a good fight here. That being said, Asura’s Wrath propelled Ryu to new heights. With his newfound abilities, Pit simply wouldn’t be able to keep up with Ryu in a fist fight. The street fighter has more raw power, technique, and speed. Pit’s large array of long range weapons simply won’t be enough to claim this round. Ryu may not need his demon mode this time. Ryu wins.

Ryu vs Nova

Nova is one of the strongest Marvel heroes in existence. I consider him to actually be more powerful than the well known heavy hitters like Thor, Hulk, Apocalypse, Rogue, dare I say Thanos? He has the speed to keep up with his power, which is what truly makes him a deadly force. That being said, I feel like he will have met his match against Ryu. Ryu’s strength and speed will allow him to have an even fight with Nova and both of them have powerful projectiles. It would be a tough fight to the end, but I see Ryu being able to take this round in the end with his demonic abilities. His stamina is nearly limitless! Had Ryu not appeared in Asura’s Wrath, this would be a clear win for Nova, but that game did change things. Ryu wins.

Zelda vs Ryu

Zelda is a powerful sorceress and she even has the ability to transform into Sheik. As Sheik, Zelda is a very quick aerial fighter who can unleash a flurry of blows against any opponent. That being said, Ryu has experience fighting all kinds of hand to hand opponents and I wouldn’t expect Zelda to be able to keep up with him for long. Ryu has more stamina as well as raw power. He would quickly prove who the more experienced fighter is. Ryu wins.

Samus vs Ryu

0eb4e4f7-2c26-4e88-b508-78ff954dd075
Samus is one of the stronger Nintendo leads and she can fight well from short or long range. That being said, it’s not enough to take Ryu down for the count. Ryu isn’t used to fighting weapons with advanced technology, but that will only give Samus a slight edge. Ryu still has the superior speed and fighting ability at his disposal and his discipline in the martial arts will help him keep calm. Ryu’s Hadouken will be able to get past all of the weaponry Samus has. Ryu wins.

Ryu vs Link

unnamed
Ryu’s a very strong fighter and he’s already starting to pass Link on the Super Smash Bros tier list. Link has a nice variety of weapons at his disposal like the Light Arrow or the Master Sword, but neither one of those items is enough to stop Ryu. Ryu has way too much power on his side to be defeated and he is actually fast enough to dodge everything at Link’s disposal. Yes, that even includes the Light Arrows. I just don’t see Link being able to stand up to Ryu for very long and he will end up getting a fatal loss in this fight. Ryu wins.

Mario vs Ryu

unnamed (1)
Mario is powerful, but I don’t see him being able to stand up to someone like Ryu for very long. Ryu has gone toe to toe with Akuma and while he is typically a little outmatched, Ryu makes things interesting. His Shoryuken makes for a very powerful technique and a few good punches will even get Mario to back down for a while. I just don’t think that Mario can keep up with this powerful Street Fighter for very long. Ryu wins.

Street Fighter Review

All right, it’s time for a big name! Street Fighter is a video game series that is still immensely popular and there are even individuals who would say that it is better than Super Smash Bros. I would never go that far, but it certainly has earned the right to be called the most popular fighting video game of all time. A comic based on the franchise was sure to be a blast and I wasn’t disappointed!

There is no real plot as the game essentially shows you how the game should be played. Every time you win, a stronger opponent is there to take you out. So, we get some brief fight scenes as every character gets a win and then gets to lose. This means that we literally have nonstop action here and it works perfectly. There’s no better way to show off the Street Fighter universe than by having their best fighters duke it out.

The art looks very good and this helps the action scenes to be even more fun. Without good art, a series that is focusing on the fights would be very risky as the action just wouldn’t be enjoyable. This is one comic where the art is more important than the writing although it is very relative. You still need good writing in order to succeed and Street Fighter has that at the ready.

This doesn’t seem to really be a preview for an upcoming ongoing, but I’d certainly be interested in reading more Street Fighter comics. The franchise has always had a lot of potential and it is very interesting. There’s currently a rumor going around that Ryu will actually make it into Super Smash. If he does make it, I’ll definitely believe that he earned his trip there. Ryu is a video game icon and while he may not be as important to the industry as Mega Man, Mario, or Pac Man, he’s still a living legend and his moveset practically writes itself.

Currently, the best free comic is still Divergence. After that, I think Street Fighter can make a solid case for 2nd. It’s just that good and I think that Ryu may actually be in the Worlds Unite crossover that is coming out. I hope so as that would be fairly neat. Now, I only have a handful of free comics to read and I saved them for last as they didn’t look as interesting as the ones that I have already read. This means that there is a good chance that none of the issues coming up will be able to surpass Street Fighter so I shall have to savor this moment.

Overall, I veered a little off topic, but the comic is really top notch. There’s not a whole lot to say about it as there’s just a lot of fights to be witnessed and no real plot, but that’s what I like to see in a Street Fighter adventure. Ryu is still a likable main character and the other fighters meant business. I was surprised that Chun Li was nowhere to be found, but I suppose that she can’t come to steal the show every time right? Reading the comic will get you in the mood to play the games and that’s why this issue ultimately succeeded.

Overall 9/10

Space Dandy vs Ryu

Space Dandy is definitely not catching a break lately and I don’t expect that to change. Ryu is an advanced Street Fighter who possesses a high degree of physical power and he is also good at long range combat. Space Dandy just wont have a chance and he’s forced to drop down the blog ranks yet again. Ryu wins.

Ryu vs Kazuya

Usually, Kazuya would win this match instantly, but Ryu had the honor of appearing in Asura’s Wrath which gave him an insane power boost and turned the tides of the battle. Kazuya’s Devil Gene won’t be enough to win because while he may be an island buster, Ryu is essentially a planet buster. This is the first battle in the SF VS T battles and I can safely say that SF won’t win them all. Ryu wins.
