Pyrrha Nikos vs Alex Hopper

rwby__pyrrha_nikos_4_by_thelegend831-d767mh5

Suggested by Destroyer Alex Hopper has his gun at the ready and that won’t mean a thing to Pyrrha. She can easily move his guns with her polarity ability or she can dodge the bullets. Pyrrha would be able to parry the bullets in her sleep as well so no matter what option she goes with the weapon won’t be a problem for her. That’s why Pyrrha is such an impressive fighter, there are always multiple ways for her to subdue her opponent. Pyrrha Nikos wins.

Bowser vs Rodin

Suggested by Sonic Rodin is a pretty powerful fighter. He looked very impressive in the Bayonetta series and I haven’t seen anything from Bowser to suggest that he would be a match for such an opponent. Bowser’s strength is his biggest selling point and in that area he is already outmatched by Rodin. Even ignoring all of Rodin’s other abilities that is already the end of the match. I like Bowser but he is just outclassed in every possible way for this round. Rodin wins.

Alexis Rhodes vs Joker

AlexisRhodes(ArcV)
Suggested by iKnowledge Joker is a pretty tricky fighter but he isn’t all that powerful when it comes down to an actual fight. I don’t think he would last for very long against Alexis’ whole army of monsters. That’s not even counting all of the various spells and traps that she has at her disposal. Joker is outgunned here and not even his explosive marbles will be able to change the course of battle here. I’m afraid that throwing in the towel is his only option. Alexis Rhodes wins.

Pyrrha Nikos vs Granny Goodness

rwby__pyrrha_nikos_4_by_thelegend831-d767mh5
Suggested by Destroyer Pyrrha is a very capable fighter who excels at close quarters combat. Even though Granny may be a solid trainer she has never been a great fighter. She will be completely overwhelmed in this fight. Even if she tries to stay and fight from afar, Pyrrha will be able to manipulate her metal gun. There’s no way for Granny to even put up a fight here since she is outclassed in strength and speed. I’m afraid that this is the end of the road for her. Pyrrha Nikos wins.

Mr Game and Watch vs Yoshi

Suggested by Sonic Mr Game and Watch is a nice fighter who has managed to make a name for himself despite the 2D limitations. That being said, Yoshi has still got the edge here. He can breath fire after unlocking his flame form and his boots will let him step on most of Watch’s attacks. Yoshi is even known as a speed character in various spinoffs which speaks to how quick the little Dino is. Game and Watch will be completely overwhelmed in this battle and I don’t see what he can do to change his fate. Yoshi wins.

Space Amoeba Review

It’s time to look at an old Kaiju film that not too many people know about. However, once you see the title you know that this is a film to check out. The monsters are huge which is really what you are looking for at the end of the day. It’s a pretty fun film that may start to lose a little steam as it goes on but manages to be a solid product through and through. Naturally you will be rooting for the monsters of course.

The film starts off with a reporter being mocked for claiming that our satellites aren’t making it into space and are being shot down. He is determined to prove that he isn’t wrong and is given the chance when a lady shows up and asks him to take photos of an island where she is building a resort. His pride won’t let him do such a thing at first but then another guy shows up and explains that giant monsters may have been seen in the area. The lead quickly realizes that it is all linked and jumps into action. Is he in over his head?

One thing you will enjoy right away is the writing for this film. It’s one of those old school scripts where the characters are all having a lot of run right off the bat. Sure, maybe they should be taking this whole thing a little more seriously to be honest, but at the end of the day you have to appreciate the fact that they can still make one liners. The voice acting is on point and the characters are reasonably likable. Kudo may have a little too much pride as he initially doesn’t want to take pictures of landscapes even when paid, but I guess that’s just not his thing. He is quick to jump into action when necessary on the island. We also have the corporate spy who comes in to try and get rich, but things don’t go too well for him. From that point on you already knew he was doomed though. We also have the main heroine who tries to help one of the heroes get away from the mind control that he is under with her yells. I suppose it is fairly effective. You’ve also got the tour guides but some of the locals do tend to panic when the Kaiju come knocking. Never a good move since these monsters are as fast as they are large.

So as you can see I definitely had no problem with the characters. It was a fun enough bunch even if none of them are all that memorable. Now we get to the Kaiju. They were all pretty solid. The best one would probably be the main one. That squid packed a punch and was even able to move on land. I definitely was glad to see him pop up and his scenes were certainly the closest to something out of a Godzilla movie. Then we have the big turtle that was neat. While the ability to stretch out your head isn’t very useful or practical, it was visually interesting so I’ll give it some props there. The monsters were definitely fun so this title earned its creature feature status.

As I mentioned, the film does slow down a bit during the second half though. That’s because the humans start to take up a bit more of a focus at that point so the monsters are secondary. I can tell you now that this is never a good idea since we are all here for the Kaiju of course. The humans are just the added bonus. It never gets boring or anything like that though. I also think the monsters should have maybe been a bit stronger as well since one of them was getting absolutely wrecked by the humans and their guns. If you’re not bullet proof but are huge like these monsters then you’re just going to end up being an easy target.

I do think Kudo’s boss will likely go down as one of the more underrated characters among the Kaiju community though. I like how he doubted Kudo from the start and never changed his mind from that. After all, why should he? When you think about it, Kudo’s story doesn’t make any sense so sending him off on a wild goose chase makes a lot of sense. He’s a one shot character but is a perfect example of this film’s humor that meshes well with the story.

Overall, Space Amoeba is a solid film. It’s definitely a retro Kaiju movie that is worth checking out and you will never look at the giant monsters the same way again. Don’t worry, we’ve also got aliens in the mix which really helps as well since those guys should always be included in such an adventure. Kaiju and Aliens go hand in hand after all. It would be cool to see these monsters go up against Godzilla one day although they would probably be destroyed very quickly. The Amoeba may not be one of the strongest fighters out there, but he’s a fun one.

Overall 7/10

Belnika vs Serra

Serra

Suggested by iKnowledge Serra is another mage who will have a lot of trouble against Belnika. Not only is she mainly magic based which isn’t good against Belnika’s magic negation, but in her initial appearance Serra can’t fight at all. Her combat abilities leave much to be desired so she will be unprepared for Belnika’s powerful attacks. Serra is completely outmatched here and I just don’t think she will even be able to hold her own. Belnika should be able to claim a quick victory and has gotten off to a solid start on the site. Belnika wins.

Toothless vs Cinder

Suggested by Destroyer Cinder is a master with fire manipulation and that is going to be too much for Toothless to handle. His attacks already aren’t the strongest and when you consider the fact that his fire won’t do anything against Cinder it limits his options even further. Even without her Maiden abilities Cinder is fast enough to dodge all of Toothless’ attacks and counter with her own. This fight won’t last very long. Cinder wins.

Meta Knight vs Roy

Suggested by Sonic Meta Knight is a mysterious swordsman who has given Kirby a run for his money at times. Still, he is no match for Roy. Roy is also a very skilled fighter and his flame blade is to be feared. He is significantly faster than Meta Knight and his blows also hit a lot harder. Meta Knight will be on the defensive for the whole match and by the end he will have been forced to acknowledge Roy’s power. From all of the Fire Emblem characters throughout history Roy is likely still top 5 in terms of power. Roy wins.

Belnika vs Nico Minoru

Suggested by iKnowledge This is definitely a rough matchup for Nico. Her main combat advantage is the fact that her magical abilities are so potent. Nico isn’t seen as a powerhouse the way that Scarlet Witch is, but her abilities shouldn’t be trifled with. Still, Belnika’s ability is that she can dispel magic while using abilities of her own. It’ll be tough for Nico to build up enough energy to use any of her stronger abilities so I don’t think she will be able to get past this. Belnika wins.
